Americans might be a little baffled by the rules of cricket, but for much of the world it's a way of life, and there are few better places to experience this quixotic sport than at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London. Known as the Home of Cricket, Lord's is named after Thomas Lord (1755 - 1832) and owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club, the world's oldest and most famous cricket club. Occupying its current location for nearly 200 years, it hosts test matches and one-day internationals ever summer, and there's no better way to spend an afternoon than watching teams of cricketers clad in all-white hurl a hard ball at amazing speed. Be sure to make time to visit the MCC Museum, the oldest sporting museum in the world, with the world's most celebrated collection of cricket memorabilia including the cricket kit of legendary player W.G. Grace. So if you're planning on being in London, check the schedule and get tickets for a match. Whether you grew up on cricket or you're just learning about it, it's an experience you'll never forget. Starwood has hotels throughout London, including the luxurious Lanesborough, a St. Regis Hotel.
