I know, sometimes an ice cold Bomb Pop really hits the spot. But there are so many other tasty frozen treats to be had from food carts and trucks specializing in dessert. Here are a couple of my favorites and some new ones around the country:
In New York, there's the The Dessert Truck. We're not talking simple ice cream cup here (not that there's anything wrong with that). Instead you'll find a regularly changing selection of gourmet confections, such as creme brulée and warm chocolate bread pudding with bacon (yes, bacon!) custard sauce. It's known to stop down in the vicinity of St. Marks Place, just a bit south of the W New York - Union Square.
In Washington D.C, salad and yogurt chain Sweet Green has launched the Sweetflow Mobile, which brings fro-yo topped with fresh fruit to the masses in Georgetown, Dupont Circle and other hot spots. Track its movements on Twitter while staying at the soon-to-open W Washington, DC.
Should you find yourself in Jacksonville at the aloft Jacksonville Airport, seek out the brand new Let Them Eat Cupcakes Truck, from local favorite bakery Let Them Eat Cake. It's parked next to the Bank of America building downtown.
