The Past Comes to Life at Frankfurt's Senckenberg Natural History Museum

Senckenberg Museum 200.jpgFamilies traveling with children will find plenty to do in Frankfurt, which boasts a variety of innovative parks and playgrounds and one of the finest zoos in Europe. But if you've only got time for one big attraction, make it the Senckenberg Natural History Museum. This award-winning museum covers everything from the Big Bang to the origin of species, and it does it in a fun, educational way that captivates children and adults alike. Over 6,000 square meters of exhibition space includes an extensive dinosaur exhibit (complete with a stegosaurus skeleton) as well as sections dedicated to whales and elephants, amphibians and reptiles, birds, fish, and more. The museum hosts temporary exhibitions as well, and is currently presenting the photography of Arthur von Weinberg, and this fall, Geology for Mankind will attempt to make sense of the earth itself. That's a tall order indeed. The museum is convenient to several Starwood properties, including the luxurious Le Méridien Parkhotel Frankfurt.
