If you think all the great American museums are confined to a handful of big cities, think again. The Science Museum Oklahoma is located in the heart of the cowboy capital of Oklahoma City, and it's so much more than just a science museum. It's a collection of museums and interactive learning environments that includes more than 350 hands-on science exhibits, a planetarium, a large-format dome-screen theater, botanical gardens, the Red Earth Museum, and the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum. But as far as science is concerned, they've got it covered, with exhibits grouped around themes like perception, light, sound, life sciences, energy, and meteorology. A tribute to aviation and space exploration, meanwhile, includes an impressive collection of vintage aircraft and memorabilia as well as a Mercury capsule simulator, so visitors can get a feel for what it was like to occupy the first American manned spacecraft to orbit the earth in 1962. It's out of this world. Guests at the Sheraton Oklahoma City Hotel or any of Starwood's properties in the area will find endless amusements at this surprising wild west attraction.
