Let's say you're in New York, staying at the Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan Chelsea. It's late at night and you're out on the town, and suddenly you're hungry. Do you know where to go?
If you're down in Tribeca, the place for you is Landmarc. The bistro serves dishes like steamed mussels, rock shrimp risotto and steak frites until 2am. If you've got a big group, call ahead and try to reserve a private booth in the second floor loft. Decibel on East 9th serves up piping hot oden noodles and other Japanese treats to go with its fine selection of sake and shochu.
Closer to the hotel — literally on the next block — Tillman's Bar & Lounge serves tasty patty melts and brie-and-spiced-pear grilled cheese sandwiches 'til 2am, accompanied by sweet soul and funk music and some killer cocktails.
Up past 2? If you can stand to wait — and there will be a wait — Employees Only is the place to go. Careful who you mess with here: half the crowd is carrying their own boning knife. This chef and service industry hang-out serves gourmet noshes all the way till 4am. Tuck into a plate of sweetbreads with grapes, fried capers and spicy mustard or an open-face veal and foie gras sandwich with fig-prune compote, washed down with a well-mixed Manhattan.
