On Saturday, May 5, 2008, historic downtown Conway, South Carolina will be transformed into a place of music, art, and beauty as the Rivertown Jazz & Arts Festival celebrates its 21st year. Area artists will be showcasing their finest work, including watercolor, glass, ceramic, oil painting, photography, jewelry, mixed media, and more, while some of the southland's most talented musicians will perform a series of free concerts beginning at 4 pm and lasting into the night. Featured performers include the Myrtle Beach-based Arlin Strader Trio at 6:30 pm and Athens jazzmaster Randall Bramblett at 8 (see video) who's sure to move the crowd with his deft musicianship, catchy songwriting, and raspy voice. Conway is one of the nicest small towns you could hope to encounter, with a revitalized downtown area that's just teeming with charming shops, galleries, and bistros, and this event is one more good reason to pay it a visit. Guests at the Sheraton Broadway Plantation or Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel, both just 25 minutes from Conway, might want to drop by for a taste of southern living at its best.
