The recently released San Francisco Bay Guardian food issue is something that should be of interest to any chow-inclined visitor to SF. There's a guide to San Francisco's best Chinese breakfasts (we're fans of the Beijing-style cruellers and sesame pancakes with meat at Shan Dong in Oakland), all-you-can-eat Brazilian barbecue, the Vietnamese subs known as banh mi and even the best expensive meals in the Bay Area. Although pricey, a heartily recommended restaurant is Gary Danko, located in walking distance of the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf Hotel. Danko's $110 Tasting Menu is currently themed around rose-flavored olive oil: Dishes include golden blossom-crusted Ahi tuna and seared squab breast accompanied by a honey mousse and olive oil dessert.
