Most people are aware that Milwaukee has had a rich beermaking tradition ever since thousands of German immigrants made a home here in the 19th and 20th centuries, but state tourism officials would like you to know that there's a lot more to Wisconsin's largest city than good brews. Take fine art, for example. As this story in USA Today points out, the Milwaukee Art Museum, located on the shore of Lake Michigan, boasts a breathtaking new addition (pictured) designed by celebrated Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Also on the lakefront, the Discovery World science center opened just last year, and features hands-on exhibits, freshwater and saltwater aquariums, digital and live performance theaters, and plenty of fun and education for the whole family. This summer, sports fans will be filling the new Miller Park baseball stadium, home of the Brewers, while gearheads will continue to flock to the popular Harley-Davidson Museum. What's that? I had you at beer? Okay then, brewery tours are offered of the Miller Brewing Company, Lakefront Brewery, and Sprecher Brewing Company. Popular places to enjoy a beer include the Milwaukee Ale House and the Old German Beer Hall. And to combine a little water with your beer, hop on the Brew City Queen, a boat that offers summertime beer tours. Guests at the Four Points by Sheraton Milwaukee North will find that Milwaukee really does have it all.
