Barbecue in New York has gotten (much) better over the past few years. At least, that's the message we've taken back from the New York Times, who have just written a rundown of the Big Apple's barbecue scene. Although just five years ago, the city only had a handful of barbecue stands that catered towards Yankee tastes, the situation is different now. Around Manhattan and the boroughs, there are numerous restaurants doing authentic Texas, Carolina and Memphis-style 'cue that would do any southerner proud. But this Monday, there's going to be something even better: Free barbecue. Over in Madison Square Park (a five minute walk away from the Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan Chelsea), there will be an all-day Kingsford Charcoal Grill-Fest, featuring free admission and activities all day long courtesy of the epnonymous charcoal barons and chefs Chris Lilly, Rick Rodgers and Aaron Sanchez.
