It looks like Atlantic City's famous Steel Pier has a year of life left. The amusement complex, which has been facing demolition for some time now, will be allowed to stay open throughout 2007 before it ultimately gets torn down to make way for updated luxury developments. Progress isn't necessarily a bad thing for Atlantic City, but if you want to catch that slice of history before it's gone forever, consider a visit to the Sheraton Atlantic City. It's your base for exploring the Pier, as well as the rest of the area's attractions--and, yes, that includes a lot of casinos. Interested in a gambling double-whammy? Spirit Airlines flies non-stop between Atlantic City and Las Vegas, where you can escape to the Aladdin.
