Whale Watching Off Virginia Beach

virbeach250.jpgWhale watching is another one of those activities, like snorkeling, that sometimes seems like it can only be done far, far away from the United States. You know Boston's already one popular jump-off point for whale watching, yet you feel it's a fluke and you'll never see the food stuff if you're not in Tonga. Well, it's time to remind yourself about Virginia Beach, another great destination for nature buffs and even the skeptical--after all, the site of some of the ocean's biggest and most beautiful animals can delight even the most hardened of homebody hearts. As a recent AP article notes, a trip out on the Rudee Flipper, a boat operated by the Virginia Aquarium, practically guarantees a sighting, and certainly provides good guidance. You can easily access that activity and more (like the boardwalk, for starters) from the Sheraton Oceanfront Hotel.
