Sometimes you want fancy cuisine, and other times it's best to keep it casual. For a casual offering in Seattle, the Catfish Corner restaurant in the Central District offers some of the Pacific Northwest's best southern-style cooking in a laid-back setting. As the Seattle Post-Intelligencer points out, Catfish Corner has been a Seattle landmark for more than 20 years, serving up delicious and generous servings of fried fish, candied yams, red beans, and gumbo. The catfish is authentically southern: farm-raised in Alabama and delivered twice a week, it's served either fried or in a Cajun sauce. The catfish dinner plate, which comes with beans, rice, cornbread, and potato salad, pairs perfectly with a glass of sweet, southern-style iced tea. Wednesday is gumbo day, when a dark seafood-and-beef gumbo draws regulars from all corners of Seattle. Guests at the luxurious W Seattle might want to venture out to Catfish Corner for some of the best catfish in the city.
