In New York, the Sheraton LaGuardia East is located in the Queens neighborhood of Flushing. In the 1980s and 1990s, immigrants from Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Chinese province of Fujian turned Flushing into a de-facto Chinatown. These days, Flushing is home to an amazing Chinese shopping mall and East Asian shopping/restaurant strips along Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue. Longtime New York Times food scribe William Gribes accurately wrote a zeitgiest of Flushing: Queens Has Less Feta, More Jellyfish. But that's not all for Queens. The sprawling borough is America's most diverse county and a destination for New Yorkers looking for good eats and cheap rents. Time Out New York recently devoted an entire issue to Queens, including the Indian/Pakistani/South American neighborhood of Jackson Heights, the Jewish/Irish/Russian/Central Asian community of Forest Hills and the Irish-Balkan-Chinese 'hood of Sunnyside.
