Rock fans from all over the world are heading to Tucson, Arizona for a major rock show that's held there every winter. The rock, in this case, doesn't refer to the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin, but rather to the many rare gems, minerals, and fossils that will be on display at events around town during the aptly-named Tucson Gem, Mineral, & Fossil Show. As the Arizona Republic points out, this annual event - now in its 53rd year - brings together as many as 25,000 collectors, dealers, and admirers to see one of the largest collections of its kind in the world. The theme of this year's show is "Australia: Minerals from Down Under," and it will feature more than 50 display cases and 250 vendors with shiny and weird gems from this amazing country. The show is educational as well as fun. A learning area for children will be set up, with interactive exhibits and plenty of "please touch" gem displays. The show runs from February 8 to 11, and many other gem events will be held across the area throughout the season. Guests at the Sheraton Tucson Hotel & Suites might want to check it out.
