Guests at Versailles now have another option when it comes to their gift shop purchases: Marie Antoinette's perfume. It turns out that recipes for the queen's favorite perfumes were lying undiscovered in a warehouse of antique documents belonging to the French government. The recreated Antoinette perfume is being manufactured by Francis Kurkdijan, one of France's best known perfumers. Although the deluxe version (8.5 ounces packaged in a numbered Baccarat crystal flask) costs a cool US$10,500 and is only available by mail order, a more affordable 1 ounce version is available for US$450 at the Versailles gift shop. The fragrence is a mix of jasmine, orange blossom, tuberose, iris, cedar and sandalwood scents. As you might know, part of the Versailles property is now a Starwood hotel, the Trianon Palace & Spa, A Westin Hotel.
