Most Americans by this point have heard of Bollywood, the moviemaking center of Hindi-speaking India. But if you really want to be cutting edge, you'll start watching Tollywood movies - those made in the city of Hyderabad in Telugu, India's second biggest language. And to help themselves compete against Bollywood, Tollywood has made itself extremely tourist-friendly. There are regular guided tours through the soundstages of Ramoji Film City, which is the largest filmmaking center in the world. You probably won't encounter any sets from movies you actually have seen, you will see impressive sights such as Discovery Pond, which changes shape at different water levels, and a 19th century European neighborhood. There's also a theme park with the hilarious name "Fundustan." The Film City is on the outskirts of hyderabad, and you'll probably want to arrange private transportation from your hotel. The stafff at the ITC Hotel Kaktiya Sheraton & Towers, one of Hyderabad's premier hotels, would be happy to arrange it.
