The historic town of Winchester, Virginia is getting ready to celebrate the holidays in grand style, with events in and around town designed to bring out the spirit in everyone. The Richmond Times-Dispatch points out that Clearbrook Park, just north of town, will create an outdoor "Winter Wonderland," complete with decorated trees and a spectacular light show. For those who like indoor activities, the Wayside Theatre in Middletown will host performances of the holiday classic "A Christmas Story," while the brand-new Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, which houses amazing works of historic and cultural significance to the area, will be getting dressed up for the holiday as well. Particularly striking is the Glen Burnie Historic House & Gardens (pictured), which will be open for Christmas for the first time in years. The house, which dates back to 1794, will feature decorations and recreations of Christmas celebrations that date back over two hundred years. Downtown Winchester itself will have on its holiday best, and the best view of the old town is from a horse-drawn buggy. Guests at the nearby Four Points by Sheraton Hagerstown will have plenty of holiday activities to choose from in the Winchester area.
