In another demonstration that Dubai is the quintessential "City of the Future", this feature from the UK's Times Online details a journalist's 2005 trip to Dubai's 280 foot indoor ski slope. That's right, you can ski year round in the desert. New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok have some catching up to do.
When in Dubai, Starwood has you covered with outstanding lodging like the Sheraton Deira and innovatively constructed Le Grosvenor House West Marina Beach, not to mention an upcoming W in development but sorry, they don't have a special offer on lift tickets just yet.

Skiing in Dubai is really great. While enjoying the amazing ski slopes you shouldn't miss the phantastic Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates. All in all absolutely great!

Spent some time at Ski Dubai and while the whole experience was a bit surreal (43C outside, -2C inside), it was also astonishing. While there I stopped at Sezzam, a restaurant with large panoramic windows overlooking the ski area. The concept is unique and the food is quite good. Overall a truly different sort of experience.

The Ski Dubai is an absolute must-see! It's not in many parts of this world that one gets to see so many contrasts and ordinarily implausible constructs than Dubai! Who would have imagined a ski-dome in the desert? The Grosvenor House is also a fantastic property...definitely worth a visit!
