The New York Times just examined the world of Cape Town jazz. We never thought of Cape Town as much of a jazz destination—it doesen't ring a bell as much as, say, Kansas City or New Orleans. Besides, with Table Mountain, Kruger National Park and a thriving dining scene, Cape Town has much going for it. But local tour firm Anduela started offering "Cape Town Jazz Safaris." The tours last between three and four hours and include performances by South African jazz artists and an introduction to the local style of goema, a mix of African khoikhoi music with American jazz and Brazilian samba music. If traveling to Cape Town, the ArabellaSheraton Grand Hotel Cape Town has amazing views of Table Mountain and the ocean and is located directly on the waterfront.
