"Computerless File Transfer"

Tuesday June 13, 2006

8156_large.jpgWell, there simply has to be SOME type of processor involved somewhere in the process, but if you look into the Hitch handheld from Sima Products, you'll find the "fastest way to transfer files between any USB devices." That means digital cameras, portable hard drives, MP3 players and anything else. Hitch acts as an intermediary, almost like an Ethernet hub for USB devices, and requires USB input on either end to transfer (so that's two USB cables). So the gist is that you can completely avoid having to get back to some type of PC or terminal and transfer files anyplace, anytime on the fly. The only drawback I've heard about is marginally slower transfer time. But that's going most likely going to be peanuts compared to finding a computer to use on short notice.
