If we were ever to make a list of unlikely destinations for English newspapers to put in their travel sections, Chattanooga would be at the top of it. The small Tennessee city isn't an, erm, major destination, but the Telegraph recently ran a feature on the town and it's famous train. Unexpected attractions in the city beyond the Cahttanooga Choo Choo include The Hunter Museum of American Art, which includes an extensive collection of work by outsider artists and Andy Warhol, the Tennessee Aquarium and the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. The Read House Hotel was recommended by the Telegraph; the Sheraton-operated hotel, on the National Register of Historic Places for its Georgian architecture, just received a $10 million renovation in 2004.
