The Sheraton Utama Brunei Darussalam is located at the crossroads of the country's economy. Literally! Not only is it located in the capital city of Bandar Seri Begawan but it's been known to throw a tri-monthly Sunday Craft Market in its' Mutiara Ballroom, both a boost to local craftsmen and an extravaganza for bargain hunters. Popular items include the gold-weaved textile "jong carat", handmade sequined flip-flop sandals and various items of home decor. Introduced during the most recent fair was the contemporary-styled Tasek Brasserie deli counter, serving the hotel's trademark garlic bread. The next event is scheduled to be held mid-May, so if you're local to the hotel or just visiting Borneo, be sure not to miss it!
