If anything, we love the fact that you can read British tabloids on the internet. The Mirror is one of the classics: A non-stop stew of celebrity gossip, royal-watching, interviews with British politicians we’ve never heard of and non-stop fretting about Britishisms like “chavs” and “hoodies”. But they actually have a good travel section and last week’s destination was sunny Los Angeles. Being a tabloid, the theme of their article was how to seek out “the A-listers of LA”. Their choice was the W Hotel Los Angeles Westwood and the Whiskey Bar:

"When I arrive at the W Hotel on LA's swish Hilgard Avenue, in Westwood, the pool bar is packed with young Angelenos all with electric teeth - snow white, dazzling, plasticky things. They are all talking about celebrity - the best place to see stars, who they knew, their latest script etc.

The W is within easy driving/cab distance of Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica, and it's the only hotel in this largely residential area of LA. As a result, it attracts a lot of entertainment industry people. It's where Brad Pitt lived after breaking up with Jennifer Aniston and then holed up with Angelina Jolie.

Attached to the hotel is the Whiskey Blue bar - if you are a resident you're guaranteed entrance. If not, you'd better arrive early (7.30-8pm). "
